About Our Religious Education Program

On the lips of the catechist the first proclamation must ring out over and over: “Jesus Christ loves you; he gave his life to save you; and now he is living at your side every day to enlighten, strengthen and free you.”

Pope Francis, Evangeli Gaudium (164)

St. Columbkille’s Religious Education Program endeavors to form into practicing and faith-filled Catholics our parish’s children and teenagers. Mindful that parents/guardians are their children’s first and primary faith formators, our catechists provide age-appropriate instruction that prepares children and teenagers to receive the Sacraments and develop their own personal relationship with God.

Program Overview

The Program is designed for children in kindergarten through grade 10 who have been baptized.

The Program’s overview is as follows:

  • Children in grades 1 & 2 prepare for First Communion.
  • Children in grades 3 through 8 continue their religious education formation; for children in grades 6 through 8, this education includes exploration of some of life’s most important questions.
  • Teenagers in grades 9 & 10 prepare for Confirmation; this preparation includes formation that is designed to both inspire teens intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually and call them to a personal encounter with Jesus Christ.
