Important Notice from Father Fitzgerald

04-22-2018Pastor's LetterRev. Richard W. Fitzgerald, V.F.

I am sure you could not help but notice the large scaffolding at the front of the church which goes up to the large round stained glass window. During one of our March winter storms, the outside sheathing on the window came apart and fell to the ground. Thankfully no one was hurt. The window is presently being inspected for repair and replacement of the sheathing.

It appears that the stained glass itself is bulging out and ready to cave in. This will necessitate removal and repair of the stained glass.

Also, there is a major crack in the bell tower that was discovered during the inspection. An estimate for this work will be forthcoming and it will be a considerable expense to the parish, the funds for which we do not have available. This will necessitate a significant funding campaign in the parish. We will be informing you of the details in the very near future.

Many people who visit St. Columbkille’s comment about the beauty of our church. However, very few understand the maintenance requirements of such a building. Please pray about this need as we get the more specific details for this project.
